Installing / Updating TWRP on your Perfectly Android Lollipop powered Nooks

TWRP for Nook

TWRP stands for Team Win Recovery Project. It’s an open source, community project. TWRP development is done by roughly 4 people at this point. There’s also a sizeable community willing to help with development for a large variety of non official devices.

A custom recovery is used for installing custom software on your device.  We use TWRP to allow us to install different operating systems on the Nook and Kindles that we support.

Nooks are officially supported by TWRP so you can use an app called TWRP manager to update the version installed on your Nooks.  Unfortunately the Kindles aren’t so simple but we do include updates for TWRP with the Lollipop automatic updates anyway so you’ll still get updates to it, you just can’t do them manually like you can’t on the Nooks.

The instructions below show you how to install and update the latest versions of TWRP on your Nook Tablet, Nook Hd and Nook HD+

To allow you to install / update TWRP on your Nook Tablet, Nook HD or Nook HD+ is pretty straight forward.  Firstly you need to enable root on your Perfectly Android Lollipop.

Update: September 20th, we have put up another post which explains fully how to enable Root on your Android Lollipop Nook and Kindle Fire HD. See our post HERE

One you've enabled root, follow the instruction below to update your TWRP for your Nook.

1. Find and install TWRP Manager in the Play Store

2. Accept install permissions

3. Once installed, tap OPEN

4. Tap SET PERMISSIONS in TWRP manager

5. Allow Privacy guard to give root access

6. Tap the menu icon in the bottom right and select install TWRP

7. Tap choose a device

8. Select your Nook from the list

9. Tap select Version to Install

10. Select newest version in the list

11. Tap Install Recovery

11a. Wait for download to begin

11b. A download progress bar will appear

12. Once downloaded, tap YES to install TWRP

13. This screen will show it's installing

14. Once success screen shows, select NO to rebooting

If you get a failure screen, this most likely means you already have the version you are attempting to installed already installed on your device. The failure can usually be safely ignored.

Thats TWRP installed or updated!
